Hogwarts: Your Story - SPECIAL ABILITY

Thank you for your interest in obtaining a Special Ability! A Special Ability is an IN-CHARACTER role. This does not mean that you have ANY authority out of character. Special Abilities are extremely rare in Harry Potter, and therefore not everyone is granted them. For this application, you are expected to read everything and follow the directions. Otherwise, you will not be considered for the role.

While Special Abilities are rare, they are chosen quite selectively based on your ability to RP the role and follow the rules accordingly. There will be NINE Special Abilities, and they are (with the number of allowed persons with abilities in parentheses): Animagus (2), Metamorphagus (1), Veela lineage (2), Seer (1), Occlumens (1), Legilimens (1), Werewolf (1), Parseltongue (1), and flying without a broomstick (1). Occlumens and Legilimens are only available to students who are in their fifth year and above, or to faculty. For certain roles such as Metamorphagus, Seer, Occlumens, Legilimens, and Werewolf, you are only permitted to perform those roles TWICE throughout your school year—so plan carefully in accordance to plots! There may be some exceptions if they are negotiated thoroughly with an ALO, so you –may- be able to perform your Special Ability more than twice during the IC school year. What we look for in a person applying for these roles is their ability to integrate themselves with a group of people (that is, including others in their RP once performing the Special Ability), their activity on the Sim (is this person an active roleplayer?), as well as their skills in writing creatively.

There are many fantastic role-players at H: YS that it’s very difficult to choose which one would fit the limited roles. Therefore, we are offering a waitlist for those who are strongly considered once a person holding that ability abandons that role or has their character leave Hogwarts. Special Abilities are held throughout the entire student/faculty career, so they may be held for quite a while (IC years = Rl years after all).
