  • Creo Igniculus (Causes red or green sparks to shoot from the wand)

Second Year

  • Cadomolleo (Cushioning charm – The Cushioning Charm creates an invisible “pillow” on the handle of a broom to make flying more comfortable)
  • Engorgio (Engorgement Charm – Spell which causes the target to swell in size. )
  • Expelliarmus (Disarms an opponent)
  • Flamma frigus (Flame-freezing Charm – Changes the properties of fire so that its heat feels like a warm breeze. )
  • Finite Incantatem (Ends a spell, generic counterspell)
  • Ferroverto (Transfiguration- turns an animal into a water goblet)
  • Orchideous (Causes flowers to come out of the wand)
  • Quietus (Counterspell to sonorus)
  • Rictusempra (Causes a person to laugh uncontrollably)
  • Reducio (Reduction charm, counterspell to engorgio)
  • Scourgify (Scouring charm – Cleans things)
  • Serpensortia (Causes a large serpent to burst from the end of the caster’s wand)
  • Sonorus (Magnifies the voice)
  • Tarantallegra (Dancing hex – Forces the victim’s legs to do a crazy dance)
  • Arion Vomito (Slug curse – Forces the victim to vomit up slugs)
  • Vox Dementis (Babbling curse – causes the victim to babble uncontrolably)

Third Year

  • Diffindo (Severing charm – Spell to cut something.)
  • Profundus (Hair-thickening Charm)
  • Fervens aeris (Hot air charm, air emits from wand)
  • Impedimenta (Impediment curse – Stops an object or slows it down. )
  • Impervius (Repel substances and outside forces like water)
  • Mobiliarbus (Levitates and moves a tree, similar to locomortis)
  • Mobilicorpus (Levitates and moves bodies/people – Example: Remus lupin uses this spell to levitate snapes body from the sheiking shack in book 3 AKA prisoner of azkaban.)
  • Riddikulus (Counterspell for bogarts)
  • Scriboscipio (Animated ribbon used to write things)
  • Waddiwasi (removes and object from being wedged in a tight space – Example: Professor Lupin uses this spell to remove a wad of gum out of a key hole that peeves had place in there in book 3 aka Prisoner of Azkaban)
  • Volatilis lutum (Bat-Bogey hex – Engorges an opponent’s ‘bogies’ to bat-size, gives them wings, and sets them to attacking his or her face. )

Fourth Year

  • Accio (Summoning charm – Causes an object to fly to the caster, even over quite some distance; the target object is said to have been Summoned. It would seem that the caster must know at least the general location of the object Summoned)
  • Depulso (Banishing charm – Sends an object away from the caster; the target object is said to have been Banished)
  • Papula caput (Bubble-head charm – Encloses the head of the caster with a bubble of breathable air – Example: Cedric uses this spell inorder to rescue cho in the second task of the try wizard tornament)
  • Siccus (Drought Charm – Dries up water)
  • Furnunculus (victim is covered in boils unless deflected which if it is deflected can cause someone near by to break out with them if they are struck)
  • Densaugeo (Teeth growing hex – Causes the victim’s teeth to enlarge grotesquely)
  • Incendio (Sets a flammable object on fire.)
  • Protego (Shield charm – This spell creates a magical barrier that will deflect hexes thrown at the caster – Example: Harry uses this spell inorder to protect himself while professor snape tries to use legilimency on him while snape was training harry in Occlumency, or mind reading or prevention of mind reading)
  • Relashio (Forces an object or person to release its hold on something, or repels objects with the force of another object)
  • Periculum (Releases a jet of fiery sparks. Underwater, this spell fires a jet of boiling water)
  • Ferula (Creates a wooden rod, can shape rod slightly)
  • Restituo (Switching spell, is a transfigurations spell that swaps ong thing for another – Example: Neville in book 4 switchies his ears into cactus during transfigurations class)
  • Erecto (straightens out an object and set it up – Example: Hermione in book 7 in order to set up the tent the three would be sleeping in, this included pegging down the ropes as well)
  • Lutumcrus (Jelly-legs jinx, renders its victim’s legs temporarily useless, leaving them to wobble around helplessly until the effect wears off)
  • Obscuro (Causes a blindfold to appear over the victim’s eyes, obstructing their view of their surroundings)
  • Reducto (Reductor curse, disintegrates or destroys objects in the caster’s path)
  • Pungo (Stinging hex/jinx, produces a stinging sensation in the victim, resulting in angry red welts and occasionally the severe inflammation of the affected area.)
Fifth Year
  • Confundus (Confusion charm – causes the victim to become extremely confused)
  • Evanesco (Objects disappear (not just go invisible but to actually go away but can be recovered later)
  • Expecto Patronum (Conjures a Patronus, a silvery phantom shape, usually that of an animal, which is the embodiment of the positive thoughts of the caster. A Patronus will drive away Dementors. Also patronus’s can carry simple messages from one wizard to another – Example: In book 6 Kingsley Shacklebolt sends a message to the burrow during the wedding of fluer and bill to tell everyone about the minister )
  • Flagrate (Creates a burning, fiery line in the air which can be “drawn” with the wand into specific shapes. The shape lingers for some time – Example: Hermione uses this spell while in the department of mysteries inorder to mark the doors that they had already used )
  • Fortis obex (Imperturbable charm- Creates a magical barrier on a target object, such as a door, to prevent eavesdropping. The target object is said to have been Imperturbed)
  • Pack (Packing spell – A spell that causes items to assemble themselves into a trunk)
  • Silencio (Silencing charm – Magically silences the target of the spell)
  • Specialis Revelio (Used to identify the ingredients of the target potion or the enchantments on a target object AKA it tells you whats in something or it will tell you what a magical object does)
  • Stupefy (Stupefying Charm AKA Stunning Spell – Renders the target of the spell unconscious; this spell hurls a bolt of red light )
  • Rennervate (removes the stupefying charm from a victim)
  • Tergeo (Cleans up the target object or person)
  • Caecus (Conjunctivitus Curse – A spell that affects the eyes and vision of the target)
  • Spargoatio (Hurling Hex – A nasty kind of hex that can be placed on a broom. The effect is presumably to make the target broom attempt to hurl its rider off)
  • Seperatus (Wall-summoning charm – Creates a stone wall from rocks and small boulders from the surrounding area – Example: i could make an old fashion farmers wall)
  • Servoverto (Protean charm – Complex spell that makes something change form – Example: Hermione uses this spell to creat the Dumbledores Army coins to look like galleons)
  • Offendo (Trip jinx, causes one to trip and fall)

6th Year

  • Aguamenti (Charm that conjures a fountain or jet of clear water from the caster’s wand)
  • Velius (Concealment charm)
  • Episkey (Heals/repairs damage that has been inflicted on the target, depending upon the persons skill level its estimated that the more advanded with medical magic you can mend more serious injuries where as a novice in the field could mend a broken nose or minor injuries)
  • Incarcerous (sends thick ropes out of thin air to wrap around someone or something)
  • Langlock (a jinx Glues the subject’s tongue to the roof of their mouth)
  • Levicorpus (Dangles the target person upside-down by the ankle in mid-air)
  • Liberacorpus (Counterspell to Levicorpus)
  • Muffliato (Fills the ears of target persons near the caster with an unidentifiable buzzing, so that the caster can hold lengthy conversations without being overheard)
  • Sectumsempra (Causes severe wounds & bleeding on a person.)
  • Magnuspenitus (Undetectable extension charm, Extends the internal dimensions of the target object without effecting the exeternal dismensions {hand bags, trunks, tents, drawr} – Example: Hermione casts this on the beaded handbag she was carrying in book 7 to house the tent cloths books, and other supplies the trio needed)
  • Cave inimicum (Defensive spell to keep enemies away – Example: Hermione used this spell in book 7 to safeguard the campsite the trio set up while on the run.)
  • Defodio (Causes deep gouges to appear in the object targeted by the spell.)
  • Descendo (Causes any targeted object to move downwards.)
  • Deprimo (Blasts a hole through the target object)
  • Homenum Revelio (Reveals humans in the vicinity of the caster.)
  • Oppugno (Causes conjured creatures under the control of the caster to attack the target)
  • Avexi avectum (Obliteration Charm, Removes traces or tracks left by someone)
  • Repellio (Refilling charm – Causes the target container to refill itself)
  • Salvio Hexia (Effect unknown, but the wording seems to suggest that this affects the various other spells being casts)

7th Year

  • Corpus Leviosa (Levitation for body/corpse)
  • Prior Incantato (Can be cast as a spell, (“Prior Incantato”), in which case it forces the target wand to emit a ghost image of the last spell it cast. The images can be dispelled using Deletrius)
  • Deletrius (Erases the ghost images of spells revealed by Priori Incantato. Possibly can be used to remove other spell effects as well)
  • Veliusridicule (Disillusionment Charm -A charm which hides the true, magical nature of something)
  • Falsusanimus (False Memory Charm – plants a false memory in the target)
  • Obliviate (Modifies a person’s memory by removing a memory)
  • Portus (Turns an object into a portkey)
  • Portus Continuus (Turns an object into a portkey)
  • Duro (Turns the target object to stone)
  • Condita Ignis (Fiendfyre -Cursed fire, made up of flames of abnormal size and heat that can crumble fairly substantial objects to soot at a mere touch. Left burning long enough, the fire will take the shapes of gigantic fiery beasts (including serpents, chimaeras, dragons, and birds of prey) which will pursue any target humans)
  • Exuropestistergum (Flagrante Curse – Causes any object affected to burn human skin when touched.)
  • Geminio (Creates a duplicate of any object cast upon.)
  • Glisseo (Converts the target object into a smooth slide – Hermione uses this spell to turn a stare case that harry and ron are standing on to turn into a slide)
  • Protego totalum (Is used to as a warding spell to protect an area from enemies of the caster)
  • Repello muggletum (Keeps muggles away from an area)
  • Confringo (Blasting curse – causes a target to explode *this spell can ricochete* – Example: Hermione uses this spell in Bethilda Bagshot’s home when nagini was after her and harry. The spell richocheted and ended up exploding a mirror)
  • Meteolojinx Recanto (Countercurse to meteolojinx, causes weather effects caused by incantations to cease)
  • Meteolojinx (Atmospheric jinx,creates outside conditions in a small interior area)

Adult Spells

  • Senex senis (Age-line spell, A thin golden line drawn on a floor, which affects anyone who crosses it if they are too young)
  • Anapneo (clears the throat and air passages)
  • Pia pium (Anti-cheating spell)
  • Remaneo (Anti-disapparition jinx, Prevents someone from Apparating)
  • (Unbreakable vow: vow itself is spoken, spell is non-verbal – The spell apparently cannot be performed using wandless magic (judging from Snape’s remarks to Bellatrix rather than from the Weasley twins’ underage efforts) and requires that the Bonder’s wand be touching the joined hands of the person administering the vow and the person taking the vow. As each clause of the oath being sworn is agreed to, a thin tongue of brilliant red flame shoots from the caster’s wand and winds itself around the joined hands of the participants, remaining in place as other clauses of the oath are sworn to)
  • Absconditus domus (Unplottable charm – A magical effect on a place; makes it impossible to plot its location on a map)
  • Protego horribilis (Provides protection against darker magic {does not prevent someone from using unforgiveable curses on you})
  • Piertotum locomotor (Animates suits of armor- can only be used by Hogwarts Professors when castle is under attack)
  • Homorphus (Forces an animagus to take its human shape)
  • Lingualigo (Tongue-tying curse – prevents certain information from being revealed by the individual upon whom the spell is placed. The curse manifests itself by causing the tongue to temporarily curl backwards upon itself.)
  • Creo phasmatis (Creates a ghostly apparition – Example: In order of the phoenix there is a ghost apparition of Dumbledore when everyone is first entering. This causes people to be frieghtened, it does not cast spells, or do any harm to anyone)
  • Croceustabula (Caterwauling Charm – When an unauthorized person enters the target area while the effect is running, a caterwauling noise will be set off)
  • Expulso (Violent blasting curse, causes anything to explode on impact.)
  • Volatilisvirga(Flying charm – cast on brooms to make them flyable)
  • Cassuseffingo (Gemino – When touched, the target object will multiply, but the copies are worthless)
  • Queritorto (Gripping charm – Spell that allows the enchanted object to be held more easily)
  • Securusvirga (Horton-Keitch Braking Charm – Makes a racing broom easier to handle)
  • Flipendo genu (Knee-Reversal hex – Causes the target’s knee to become backwards)
  • Taleaproprius (Permanent sticking charm – Spell that magically fastens one thing to another. It is extremely difficult to remove anything fastened with a Permanent Sticking Charm)
  • Custosrecenseo (Stealth-sensoring spell – Spells to detect anyone sneaking past them. Can be placed on physical objects such as doors)
  • Magnus sensus (Supersensory charm, Lets the caster sense things out of his or her line of sight)
  • (Taboo jinx, non-verbal, When put on a word, anyone who then says that word becomes trackable by the caster; saying the word breaks protective enchantments and causes some kind of magical disturbance. Cannot use this curse without the written permission of the Admins.)
  • Fidelius (Fidelius charm – An immensely complex spell involving the magical concealment of a secret inside a single, living soul. The information is hidden inside the chosen person, or Secret-Keeper, and is henceforth impossible to find — unless, of course, the Secret-Keeper chooses to divulge it)

Unforgivable Curses (Adult only with the approval of the Admins.)

  • Crucio (Cruciatus curse, causes extreme pain & anguish)
  • Imperio (Imperius curse, causes a person to become under another’s
  • control)
  • Avada kedavra (Killing curse. Cannot use this curse without the written permission of the Admins.)
